Kalamazoo County Law Library Moving
At 5 p.m. today, the Kalamazoo County Law Library inside Kalamazoo Public Library's Central branch will close for a temporary relocation to the second floor Local History Room. The move is because of ongoing sexual harassment of staff in the currently isolated space on the lower level. In time, it is hoped that a more permanent space for the law library is constructed on the second floor, with walls to separate it from the local history room.
There are no immediate plans for the vacated space, except to remain as closed stacks for law library print materials. The current movable shelving is 25 years old and the manufacturer is no longer in business. After the library completes a long-awaited space utilization study, the current law library room may be repurposed.
